OBLONG CHILDREN'S CHRISTIAN HOME

Wilderness Adventure

Two staff,  Steve Mc Cain and Arvin Moden and a mature Christian volunteer, Tom Sparks took 6 boys fishing in Canada.  We camped primitive style on an island.  Even though we had van trouble,  the weather was bad—it stormed nearly every night, and the fishing was poor; we accomplished our goals of building relationships and teaching the principles of Jesus Christ. Each day began with an hour of Bible Study and ended with a devotion drawn from the many accounts of fishing and boating in the Bible We didn’t just talk about prayer—we practiced it when the storm was about to blow our tents away!  We didn’t just talk about working together—we practice it when the storm swamped our boats.  Yes, everybody did catch some fish!
