Our family life before Oblong Children's Christian Home
We rejoiced when we moved to Illinois in the summer of 1998. Our younger son, Todd, was in middle school and running
with the wrong crowd. We thought this move would be a fresh start.
Todd found the same type of crowd at our new home. Todd is not a bad kid, he just wanted to be "one of the guys".
His "friends" would talk him into doing things that were not very nice. They wanted to see if Todd would do these things.
Todd never seemed to have an explanation why he went along with them..
He began yelling at everyone in the family instead of talking. If he saw something he wanted in the house, he just
took it. He became uncontrollable. Jack and I did everything we could think of to pull Todd back on track.
He resisted all of our efforts.
The Difficult Decision
We placed Todd at the Oblong Children's Christian Home. It was hard to let go. He was still our child.
Even though he lived under the rules of the home, we still wanted to make the decisions. When we finally relaxed and
placed Todd totally under Momma Jean's and Dad Rich's full control and love, change began.
