Arvin 3-2010Administrator: Arvin Moden (christianhome@fairpoint.net) has over twenty years experience in administration and social services and has been with Oblong Children’s Christian Home for 13 years.  He is a graduate of Manhattan Christian College.  He earned a specialist degree from Georgia State University.  He also served a doctorate level clinical psychology internship at Pine Rest Christian Hospital.  Arvin has developed courses in parent/adolescent conflict management, parenting the challenging child, and anger management.  He and his wife, Nancy, have three children. 

Counselor/Caseworker:  Shana Puckett (spuckett@oblongchristianhome.org)  joined the Oblong Children’s Christian Home in March 2012.  She previously served children and families through her work with Southeastern Illinois Counseling.  In 2002, Shana received a B.A. from Eastern Illinois University with an emphasis in psychology. She loves working with children and with horses.  Shana has also previously owned a gymnastics center, The Tumble Zone, where she motivated young people to reach their potential.  She and her husband, Terry, reside in Olney, Illinois with their three children. Shana is a member of the Elm Street Christian Church in Olney.

Director of Promotions & Partnership Development:  Amy Kemp (akemp@oblongchristianhome.org) joined the home in July 2011 after spending 16 years in association management.  Her experiences include event management, publishing, membership marketing, and association governance.  Amy also spends time sharing in a ministry, Daring to Soar, with her husband, Keith.  Amy is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where she completed both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.   Amy and Keith have two children, Tess and Belle, who actively contribute to the ministries served by their mom and dad.

 

loriOffice Manager: Lori Keeler

Lori Began working with Oblong Children’s Christian Home in April 2011.  She is the proud mom of one son, Tanner. She is a graduate of Lincoln Trail College with a degree in Executive Secretary.  Lori is a volunteer Special Olympic Coach with some local special olympics teams.  She is a member of South Union Church in rural Flat Rock, Illinois.

 

Houseparents

Rich and Jean Caldwell: Our Father’s House (boys home)

Rich and Jean have over 15 years experience as houseparents and have been with Oblong Children’s Christian Home for over 14 consecutive years.   Rich is a graduate of Lincoln Christian College.  Jean has an outgoing personality and wins kids hearts with her warmth.  The Caldwells also have parenting experience from raising their four children.  Rich and Jean have also served on the mission field in Costa Rica and Argentina.They are the parents of 4 children and proud grandparents of 7.

 

David and Kris McCarter: 43 Dave, Kris, dogs 11-1-06Talitha Koum Home (girls home)

The McCarters have over twenty-five years experience as houseparents, over 12 years of that experience has been with OCCH.  David is a graduate of  Lincoln Christian College.  He also earned a Ph.D. in history from the University of Iowa.  He teaches part-time at Indiana State University.  Kris is a licensed cosmetologist. Kris and David have two grown children, one grandson and another on the way.

Steve & Kim McCain: Zion Home (boys home)

Steve and Kim McCain come to us with 10 years experience as houseparents.  In October 2006, Steve and Kim became houseparents in the Zion House, a boys home.  Steve and Kim have 3 grown children and 3 still at home.

 

 

 

Chris and Amy Martin (relief home)

The Martins have been houseparents at Oblong Children’s Christian Home for over 10 years.  Chris was a youth minister prior to becoming a houseparent.  Amy has three years of college work in early childhood education.  The Martins have three children: Cory, Emily, and Sarah.

Chris Martin is also our maintenance and construction supervisor. Chris has fifteen years experience in the building trades.   He teaches these trade skills to interested young people at the home.
